Project Description – Repair and rebuilding of an in place shaft attached to an electric motor.
Application - Repair and rebuild damaged shaft that was damaged due to a spun spline gear
Industry - Municipality-Sewage Treatment Plant
Contractor – Technical Consulting done by John Alexander and work performed by AA Machine
Problem -The shaft was damaged due to a spun spline gear and it would have been very costly to take it apart and replace the shaft.
Solution -Repair and rebuild in place without removing the shaft. AA Machine built a mold with weeping holes and covered it with release agent. Mixed up the Belzona 1212 Super Metal and buttered up the prepared shaft. Then bolted the mold together making sure to line up the molded key. Once the mold was bolted together the excess was cleaned off. Finish sanding was done and the shaft was repaired and ready to go back into service.
