Furnace Corner Support Beam Repair

Problem - The corner furnace support beam for the conveyor system above the furnace has worn away and needs to be structurally repaired. This repair has to be completed in between shifts and back in to service in less than 24 hours. 

Solution - Cleaned and mechanically prepared the substrate for rebuilding.  Condition the concrete by brushing on Belzona 4981 high temperature conditioner.  Rebuild the base with Belzona 4181 epoxy, due to the high temperatures at the work site, the epoxy was kept in a cool trailer until mixing and applying.  The rebuild material was applied with a trowel.

Product Detail -  Belzona 4181 (AHR Magma-Quartz A 3-part epoxy repair composite designed for the repair, resurfacing and protection of concrete and stone subject to impact, abrasion, heat and chemical attack. This material provides outstanding acid and heat resistance and is ideally suited for horizontal surfaces, as well as vertical surfaces up to a thickness of 6mm (¼ inch.)  It is a solvent free repair composite which is supplied as a base, solidifier and separate aggregate, that when combined forms a trowelable consistency to rebuild damaged surfaces.
