Problem - This tube sheet is on a brine chiller that had been in service for over 30 years. This is a cast tube sheet with a copper nickel inlay around the tube bundle. While the copper nickel inlay was in good shape the cast was deteriorated badly and had crevice corrosion that was undercutting the inlay.
Solution - The deep pitting and crevices were filled with Belzona 1311 and the cast portion was coated with two coats of Belzona 1321 in oposing colors to allow the customer to use color variation as as preventative maintenance tool.

Product Detail -
Belzona 1311 (Ceramic R-Metal) - A 2-part epoxy-based repair composite designed for metal repair and protection against the effects of erosion and corrosion. This solvent free repair composite has excellent chemical resistance and will bond to all metals and most other rigid surfaces. It is easy to mix and apply without the need for specialist tools and it cures at room temperature eliminating the need for hot work. It is ideally suited to be overcoated with Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) to ensure long lasting performance.
Belzona 1321 (Ceramic S-Metal) - A 2-part ceramic filled epoxy coating designed to provide erosion and corrosion resistance of metal surfaces. This solvent free epoxy coating has outstanding chemical resistance and will bond to almost any rigid surface. Due to its high compressive strength it can be also used to create a perfect shim. This material is easy to mix and apply without the need for specialist tools and it cures at room temperature eliminating the need for hot work.
