Project Description – Carbon Steel Fire Truck Tank Repair
Application - Blast and coat the inside of a leaking carbon steel fire truck tank.
Industry - Government
Contractor - CMS with Lane Technology
Problem - Tank was leaking 100-300 gallons of water a day. Tank was rusted and corroded and had 3 large holes in bottom. Tank was uncoated. A new tank would have forced company to take equipment out of service for 2-3 weeks and a new tank was costly.
Solution - Set up containment. Sand blast inside of water tank. Bond in 10’ x 1/8” thick plate in the bottom of the tank, where the tank meets the frame rail, using Belzona 1121 Super XL Metal. Strip coat the tank at all wall to wall, floor to wall and ceiling to wall interfaces and around pipe protrusions and over repair areas with Belzona 5811 with Anti-microbial additive, applied at 15-20 mils thick. Install full top coat of Belzona 5811 Immersion Grade with Anti-microbial additive @ 15-20 mils thick. Allow to cure and return to service.
Product Applied -Belzona 1121, 5811 w/Anti-microbial additive
