Problem - The customer has been having problems with damage to the Water Pump shafts.
Solution - We cleaned the shaft with brake cleaner and put the shaft in the lathe and prepped it by cutting rough threads into the shaft. We cleaned the surface off again then mixed up the Belzona 1111 Super Metal. We taped off the edges for the repair and then applied the repair material while the shaft was rotating at a slow speed. We made sure to put enough material on the shaft to have extra to mill off. We let the shaft cure for 24 hours before putting it on the lathe. The shaft was cut down to the proper diameter to finish the repair. Final sanding was done to polish the Super metal. The part was repaired and ready for service.
Product Applied - Belzona 1111 Super Metal
Product Detail – A 2-part repair composite for metal repair and resurfacing based on solvent free epoxy resin reinforced with silicon steel alloy. This repair material will not corrode and resists a wide range of chemicals. It is easy to mix and apply without the need of specialist tools and can be machined using conventional tools.
