Application - – Repair active leak areas and rebuild entire exterior of tank casing

Problem - Hot water heating system tank was actively leaking and severely corroded. Tank was rusting from inside to exterior.  Customer was forced to close school for 1 week, due to leaking tank – they were unable to provide heat to school.  Lead time on new tank was 10-12 weeks.  Customer wanted to get tank repaired, so they could get heating system back in service and students back to school.

Solution - Clean and mechanically prepare the substrate at active leak areas.  Active leak areas were filled using Belzona 1291 ES Metal Stick.  Construct wire mesh screen and wrap entire tank with screen and attach.  Trowel apply Belzona 1111 Super Metal, fully encapsulating screened area.  Allow 1111 to cure and return tank to service.

Belzona 1111 Super Metal - A 2-part repair composite for metal repair and resurfacing based on solvent free epoxy resin reinforced with silicon steel alloy. This repair material will not corrode and resists a wide range of chemicals. It is easy to mix and apply without the need of specialist tools and can be machined using conventional tools.
