Expansion Joint Repair

Project Description – Customer was looking for a long-lasting and proven expansion joint solution for their newly upgraded Sulfuric Acid containment area.

Problem - Customer was looking for a long-lasting and proven expansion joint solution for their newly upgraded Sulfuric Acid containment area.

Solution - New concrete pour was allowed to cure 28 days.  Cleaned the expansion joint area substrate, taped off demarcation lines (Contractor elected not to use tape),  backer rod inserted into the expansion joints.  Expansion joints conditioned with Belzona 2911, mixed and applied Belzona 2221, immediately removed tape, and allowed joint materials to cure before placing area back into service.

Product Detail – Belzona 2911 QD Conditioner – A 1-part substrate conditioner used in conjunction with Belzona 2000 series of elastomers, designed to seal substrate and promote adhesion.

Belzona 2221 MP Fluid Elastomer - A 2-part polyurethane resin designed for the repair and coating of rubber and metal components, as well as casting of new components. This flexible rubber repair material makes cost effective repairs possible and is designed for applications where durability and elasticity are required. It is easy to mix and apply by brush or by pouring without the need for specialist tools and will cure at room temperature, eliminating the need for hot work and vulcanization.
